Description
We see this time and time again at our seminars. The participants have seen something about powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting somewhere. Fully motivated, they want to learn it straight away. They usually start weightlifting at their local gym.
The local coach usually advises them to learn the weightlifting technique first, but some aren’t interested in that and are primarily keen to lift ever-heavier weights.
Lifting technique? No, thanks!
Sooner or later, this usually leads to a serious injury or a series of minor strains. The reason is simple:
Proper powerlifters or Olympic weightlifters spend years working on their lifting technique. They increase the weights only gradually, because they know: it won’t work without the right technique. There are a few aids available to help you master the correct technique perfectly. One of these is the DC Blocks.
What are DC Blocks?
These blocks are stackable aids designed to help you learn how to lift weights correctly. You can use them to practise your form.
They are height-adjustable. You simply need to stack the blocks on top of each other or remove them. This gives you a way to learn weightlifting technique easily and step by step.
How do DC Blocks help with weightlifting?
For some basic exercises with the Olympic bar, the DC Blocks are used to limit your range of motion.
This is important when the exercise cannot be performed perfectly.
Particularly with deadlifts, many trainees often struggle with a lack of mobility in the hips, ankles or thoracic spine. This leads to a rounded back, which in turn increases the strain on the sensitive lumbar spine.
This can lead to injuries over the course of your training.
However, if you limit your ROM (range of motion), you can specifically train the phase of the movement where you still have weaknesses.
In this way, you teach your body to maintain stability in your back precisely in these areas and actively work on improving mobility in the stiff structures.
Lifting mechanics in weightlifting
You can also train lifting mechanics as a whole effectively with DC Blocks.
The path of the bar during an exercise is crucial for optimising the load arm. If, for example, you hold the bar just a little too far away from your body, the strain on the lumbar spine increases again.
Weightlifting technique – here’s how
Over time, you can then stack the DC Blocks lower.
This will gradually increase your range of motion (ROM). Make sure you’ve mastered one phase of the movement perfectly before moving on to the next step.
If you increase your range of motion step by step, you’ll be able to learn weightlifting properly. Always focus first on your lifting technique and only then on increasing the weights.
What are the features of DC Blocks?
The DC Blocks are stackable and have the following dimensions:
48x39x5 (L/W/H)
One block weighs 4.7 kg.
The DC Blocks are made from machine-moulded, recycled plastic and are highly durable.
Durability is particularly important, as the blocks are subjected to enormous weights over the years.
These DC Blocks are sold in pairs.
