HYROX as a Business Boost
Hardly any other fitness format has developed with such momentum in recent years as HYROX. What began as a competition format has evolved into an international brand that inspires millions of people and has transformed expectations of modern training. Where people want to train specifically for HYROX, gyms need spaces that offer precisely this experience.

Why a hybrid approach pays off
With a hybrid training area, gyms are not only investing in new equipment, but in a space concept that combines cost-effectiveness with maximum flexibility. Compared to traditional strength or cardio zones, the investment required per square metre is often lower, whilst at the same time the space opens up significantly more possibilities for use – from free training and personal training to small groups, events or HYROX.

Performance requires a concept
A hybrid training area is far more than the sum of its equipment. Only when training philosophy, spatial design and equipment work together can an area be created that inspires members and pays off financially. A bit of turf, an assault bike and a few kettlebells – is that all it takes to create a hybrid area? It’s not quite that simple. After all, a modern hybrid area isn’t defined by its equipment, but by the training that’s meant to take place there. Only when movement sequences, training flow and equipment work together effectively does a space emerge that combines strength, endurance and functional training – and inspires both beginners and ambitious athletes alike.

Training zones rather than equipment areas
High-quality equipment forms the basis of any hybrid training area. With the right concept, this creates a training experience that inspires people and makes gyms more successful. We provide everything you need from a single source. In an interview with bodyLIFE Medien, Perform Better CEO Marco Schubert discusses the opportunities offered by hybrid training concepts for gym operators.

Small space, high standards
A hotel gym has to meet many expectations at once: it should be functional, offer a variety of training options, blend in with the hotel’s design concept and provide guests with a high-quality training experience. At the same time, there is often only a limited amount of space available. This is precisely why, when planning, it is crucial to consider the space, equipment and usage together right from the start.

Stronger, not just pain-free
A patient comes in with back pain. They receive treatment, it helps – and three months later they’re back in the waiting room. Every physiotherapist is familiar with this pattern. Yet this is no longer inevitable: functional training has established itself as an integral part of modern rehabilitation – and is transforming what a physiotherapy practice can achieve. Sales expert Daniel Fitschen explains what this looks like in practice, the role the right equipment plays, and how Perform Better supports therapists on this journey.

Recovery wins
For a long time, this third step was regarded as an afterthought – a passive rest period that would happen of its own accord eventually. Today we know that if you do not actively manage your recovery, you are squandering much of the potential benefits that therapy and training could deliver. For physiotherapists, gym owners and personal trainers, this presents an opportunity – and a clear responsibility.

How HYROX & hybrid training are changing the requirements
Hybrid training is changing not only the content of training – but also the fundamental requirements for everyone involved: athletes must train differently, coaches must structure training programmes differently, and gyms must provide suitable equipment and spaces that are optimally equipped. In the traditional approach to fitness, skills could largely be developed in isolation: strength training in the equipment area, endurance on the treadmill, and technique practised separately in the exercise room. This model reaches its limits in hybrid training and in preparation for HYROX.

Train to race
HYROX turns fitness into a competition. It moves away from isolated training approaches towards a performance-oriented, comparable and competition-like form of training. The principle is simple – and it is precisely this simplicity that is its strength: eight 1-km runs are combined with eight functional workouts.

Performance rather than training
HYROX has transformed the fitness industry and turned it into a competitive sport. As an official partner and exclusive distributor of CENTR HYROX in 14 European countries, Perform Better was involved from the very beginning. We support the movement not only with equipment, but with comprehensive training programmes.
Perform Better CEO Marco Schubert explains why hybrid training is more than just a trend, how gyms and trainers now need to rethink their approach – and why he firmly believes that fitness racing will soon become an Olympic sport.

Redesigning the Recovery Zone
Functional training, HYROX, strength & conditioning or athletic training – modern training concepts are becoming more intense, more demanding and more performance-oriented. Yet this is often where a crucial bottleneck arises: recovery.
But real performance gains don’t happen during training. The most successful facilities are now creating holistic experience zones: training + recovery + wellbeing.
