The Appeal of Obstacle Courses
Climbing over wooden walls, crawling through mud, pulling yourself up on ropes or sprinting across rough terrain: obstacle courses are full of challenges, place considerable demands on the body – and are nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, great fun. To master an extreme obstacle course, you need fitness, coordination and strength. Experts David Magida and Melissa Rodriguez show you how to prepare specifically for this. As well as introducing the obstacles, they explain the right kit and nutrition and provide effective tips for tackling a wide variety of courses.
With over 100 exercises and workouts, you can then train all the key fundamentals for the competition: endurance, flexibility, balance, strength and speed. Strategies for avoiding injuries, overcoming fears and focusing on the race help you to be mentally prepared for the run as well.
The perfect preparation for your next obstacle course race – whether you’re a beginner or a pro, and whether it’s the Spartan Race, Tough Mudder or StrongmanRun!
