Vital, supple and dynamic in everyday life and sport
If you want to stay flexible, energetic and pain-free in everyday life and sport, you should take care of your connective tissue! This insight is now widely recognised in physiotherapy, sports science and medicine. After all, there have been enormous developments in this field in recent years. Muscular connective tissue plays a major role in well-being, mobility, performance and health: the so-called fasciae transmit the force of the muscles, communicate with the nervous system, serve as sensory organs, provide protection and facilitate the exchange of substances in the internal organs, and form the basis for a shapely physique.
What was previously thought to be the sole preserve of muscles can also be achieved by connective tissue: it reacts to stress and stimuli, and if fasciae become matted or stuck together, this can result in pain and mobility problems. The fasciae should therefore be specifically trained – 10 minutes twice a week is enough!
In this completely revised bestseller, fascia researcher and Rolfing therapist Robert Schleip demonstrates how a practical exercise programme can be incorporated into everyday life. He reports on the latest scientific findings from research and explains which methods and equipment are most effective for fascial treatment and which do more harm than good. These findings already play an important role in the field of physiotherapy and will continue to influence future treatment techniques.
