Description
Food as a Lifesaver
Drawing on the latest findings in food research, Jo Robinson takes you on a fascinating journey to the origins of plants in this book. She describes how and when we unwittingly rob them of their nutritional value through over-breeding and incorrect preparation. Each chapter focuses on a specific type of fruit or vegetable and offers plenty of tips on how to preserve and unlock their beneficial nutrients. You’ll learn how spinach can protect your eyes and reduce inflammation, and how garlic can lower your risk of thrombosis, boost strength and stamina, and help prevent cancer. The valuable nutrients in blueberries lower blood pressure, help with cardiovascular diseases and slow the progression of age-related dementia.
This is a revised new edition of *Garlic Against Cancer* and *Blueberries for the Heart*.
