NormaTec Recovery Boots: Further, Higher, Faster!

When chasing personal bests, optimal recovery is almost as important as the training itself. Studies show that there are a variety of ways to speed up recovery that are significantly more effective than putting your feet up in front of the TV.

of the list is still the classic massage. However, this is a luxury that is usually reserved for professional athletes.
Almost as effective is compression therapy, which generally uses air pressure to “treat” different parts of the body

The biological mechanism is easy to explain

Compression increases blood flow, which improves the supply of nutrients and accelerates regeneration. This is especially true in areas of the body that are farther from the heart—namely, the extremities.

Since the mechanism works and compression therapy is also perceived by most people as soothing, a good handful of providers have established themselves on the market in recent years.

While the “inflatable stockings” seemed a bit exotic at first, they are now an integral part of professional sports.

Also perfectly suited for everyday athletes

But even among everyday athletes, compression boots and similar products are becoming increasingly popular.&

The gold standard in this category is the products from NormaTec/Hyperice, which use a patented massage pattern to mimic the blood-pumping action of the veins in the legs, arms, and torso—but then take it a step further to “flush out” the legs very quickly.&

The technology synergistically combines three massage techniques to accelerate the body’s natural recovery process.

How does this work in detail?

The key to perfect recovery is what’s known as “Sequential Pulse Technology”—a combination of three mechanisms.

Instead of using static compression (squeezing) to transport fluid from the limbs, Sequential Pulse Technology uses dynamic compression (pulsation). This mimics the muscle pump in the legs and arms, which significantly improves the removal of fluid and metabolic waste from the limbs after workout.

2) Gradient-based compression:
Veins and lymphatic vessels have one-way valves, which prevent fluid from flowing backward. Sequential Pulse technology utilizes the same effect by employing a gradient as maintenance pressure. to prevent bodily fluids from being pushed downward toward the feet by the pulsating effect in the proximal zones. Thanks to this improvement, Sequential Pulse Technology can deliver maximum pressure throughout the entire limb without reducing the effectiveness of the pulsating action near the upper end of the limb.

3) Distal relief:
Since prolonged static pressure can be harmful to the Pulse Technology releases the compression pressures as soon as they are no longer needed to prevent backflow. By releasing the compression pressure in each zone as quickly as possible, every part of your limbs the maximum rest time without creating a significant pause between compression cycles.

So much for the theory.

But how do we use NormaTec, for example, in our practice?
an infrared mat
This increases blood flow thanks to compression therapy and far-infrared. Ideally combined with motivating music (or, even better, binaural beats), this allows both body and mind to reach peak performance. If needed, a daylight lamp can be used to maximize the effect.

2. Immediately after training
Active recovery immediately after exercise (e.g., cryotherapy) may be counterproductive under certain circumstances. Compression therapy, on the other hand: This can also be used prophylactically immediately after finishing a workout without reducing the desired effects. Here, too, we use infrared heat synergistically. Now in combination with PEMF (magnetic field therapy) and a special Power-Nap application, which also promotes relaxation of the brain during the compression massage.

3. And/or later
Of course, you can also use the NormaTec boots later to tackle sore muscles. Here, the Zone Boost function allows you to increase the pressure exactly where it feels particularly good … The Boost function can be activated both via the NormaTec app and directly via the control/pump unit. See above for possible combinations. In addition, red light therapy can further maximize relaxation.

4. Pure Well-Being
Last but not least, the NormaTec Pulse Recovery Boots are also among the favorites when it comes to pure well-being. Even though it sequential compression therapy, similar to massage, also releases oxytocin . This is usually noticeable as a pleasant sensation.

Summary:

Compression therapy improves blood circulation and accelerates recovery; NormaTec’s patented pulse massage pattern combines three key techniques—pulsation, distal relaxation, and gradients.& nbsp;

Typical applications include (high-tech) warm-ups and a dynamic approach to faster recovery, with a high feel-good factor.
