Have You Made the Most of the Space in Your Gym?

You’ve done it: you’ve fulfilled your dream of opening your own fitness studio and equipped it exactly the way you envisioned. Cardio machines, large and small fitness equipment fill your training areas, and in addition to these “classic” fitness offerings, you’ve also considered health and preventive fitness programs. You proudly look around your dream gym—until you notice something that quickly spoils your satisfaction: unused space!

To help you avoid this, we’ve put together a few tips on how to make the most of every last square metre in your studio.

These Tips Will Help You Make the Most of Your Studio

1. Make sure you have created enough open training space. More and more members want to train beyond traditional machines, even when they’re at the gym. Whether using their own body weight or equipment such as dumbbells and medicine balls, they rely on open training areas to stay fit. That means you shouldn’t underestimate the amount of space required. As a general guideline, plan for group sizes of 15–30 people. Each person should have approximately 4 m² of space. Take another look at your layout to ensure you have provided enough room for functional and free training, and adjust your studio layout if necessary.

2. True to the motto “Work out beyond the machines,” there’s another popular fitness trend: training with TRX suspension trainers. With a wide variety of over 300 exercises, TRX® Suspension Training offers the opportunity to build strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, and core stability all at once. This allows your clients to complete a full-body workout even in a limited space.

3. Speaking of limited space: with the FUNS studio solutions, you can also create a functional training area for your members. The modular design of the Training Towers provides the ideal foundation for functional circuit training. You can configure each station according to your own preferences or the specific needs of your members. Additional stations can also be added later, allowing you to adapt the tower whenever required.
With a footprint of just 7 m² and a total space requirement of only 23 m², the FUNS Training Tower F is the ideal solution for making use of previously unused space in your studio. Its standard configuration—including pull-up bars, anchor tubes for TRX Suspension Trainers, punching bags, and much more—already enables your members to enjoy an effective full-body workout in a compact area. Optional extensions, such as a wall bar, barbell station, cable station, and more, allow you to easily customise the tower to meet your members' needs and design it according to your own vision.
If you have less than 23 m² available but still want to integrate a training tower into your studio, there is a solution for that as well: the FUNS Training Tower X requires only 15 m² of space while still allowing up to five people to complete a full functional circuit workout at the same time.

4. Do you think your gym is optimally set up and that you’re making the most of the available space? But maybe you have an outdoor area whose potential as a training space you haven’t fully tapped yet? FUNS has the perfect solution for this, too: the FUNS CC Training Container.
This waterproof and weatherproof training system is based on a 20-foot shipping container, which enables functional and military-style fitness training. The attachments and racks can be stowed inside the training station, saving space when the container isn’t in use. If the ground in your outdoor area is uneven, height-adjustable feet can be used to level it out. Up to 100 people can train simultaneously in this 60m² all-around training facility. This allows you to open up entirely new dimensions in training while still catering to your clients’ individual needs thanks to the flexible add-ons and racks.
Best of all: The training container is ready for use in just a few minutes. Open the doors—set it up—done!

5. A training container may not fit into your outdoor area, but a portable functional training station certainly might. In that case, the FUNS M is the perfect solution. This compact, freestanding training station can be assembled quickly and requires only a small footprint (1.5 m², with a total training area of approximately 12 m²). All equipment can be stored neatly inside the unit. Just like the larger FUNS CC Training Container, the FUNS M is weather-resistant, allowing it to remain outdoors in all weather conditions. This transforms your outdoor area into an attractive, year-round training space.
