What Are the Benefits of Active Breaks in Your Workday?

Check out our free YOGA program!

Come on—take a break!

Breaks are important for many reasons—this is now widely recognized. If you don’t take breaks, you’ll eventually suffer from problems such as muscle tension, physical discomfort, back pain, and difficulty concentrating.

Breaks are actually required by labor law, but far too few people comply. Why is that?
In our professional practice, we still see that many colleagues—in a sense, of their own accord—do not adhere to this rule but, despite knowing better, consciously expose themselves to this health risk. This is often due to poor examples set by the employer or a work environment and atmosphere that isn’t focused on health.

How do you take a break?

Breaks must be taken regularly; they must occur at appropriate times and include specific activities designed to counteract the physical strain of a workplace that typically involves little movement. They should not be too long, but they should be effective and, above all, customizable by the employee in terms of time, location, and content.

If they are also motivating, improve health literacy through clear explanations, and are offered regularly, a great deal is achieved for everyone involved. Setting a fixed time and location restricts employees too much. That is why digital offerings provide many advantages in this regard.

You can join LIVE or watch the recording later. It doesn’t matter whether I’m working from home or at the office, and if I want to use it multiple times, that’s possible, too.

Above all, I can do it whenever I need to or whenever I have the time and feel like it.

This offers tremendous added value, as it can reach many more participants than an in-person course and will therefore attract more attendees.

YOGA Rocks the (Home) Office, Too

YOGA offers a particularly interesting and promising mix of exercises and content, making it ideal for taking breaks from work. It’s no surprise that the popularity of this 3,000-year-old practice is steadily rising, and its diverse benefits and positive effects are also well-documented medically and scientifically—something that cannot be said for every form of exercise.

The combination of targeted movements for specific goals, accompanying breathing, and physical and mental practices focused on awareness and concentration can be particularly effective—even in short sessions and at any fitness level.

What makes this special is that all the exercises are aimed at health—at achieving harmony between body and mind. And isn’t that an overarching health goal for everyone, even in the workplace?

It’s definitely worth a try!
